Archive for August, 2010

The Octopus Project is playing Bottom Lounge on October 15, 2010. You can see the rest of their tour dates over at COS.

Apparently I am going to North Coast Festival on Sunday.  I don’t know most of the bands playing but I do like Phantogram and Maps & Atlases.

I had never heard Emily Wells before but she’s pretty good:

Charlie suggested this great tune by Ryan Bingham:

forgetters (Blake’s latest band) is playing Subterranean on October 12, 2010. Tickets go on sale tomorrow at 10 AM.

I just bought my ticket to the Tim Kasher show at Schubas in November.

Lightning Bolt is playing Chicago in October, we just don’t know where yet. Check it on Pitchfork.

Chicagoist posted this video of St. Vincent playing “Strangers.” It’s good stuff.

Dan gave me a heads up, informing me that The Tallest Man on Earth is playing Park West on September 22, 2010.

The Trib has a really good article on the Socialists, a local Morrissey cover band composed mostly of kids. I heard about them last year when TOC had an article on them. I’ve been meaning to see them for a while but my plans always fall through.

Hear Ya seems to like the new Wolf Parade album.

FYI, the RAA show at Schubas on Saturday has sold out.

Chris Carrabba is reuniting with Further Seems Forever and I am somewhat excited.

In personal news, I just got an electric guitar in the mail. I really haven’t played electric since college. This should be fun.

I just got an email about this video of Bear Hands performing at SXSW. They are  a good band but I only know about them because they really like to play with WWPJ.

Finally, here is a video of Vaden from the Toadies covering “Someone Great”:
