Lollapalooza is finally out of town. I caught a little bit of the live stream online. Gaslight Anthem seemed to put on a good show. It’s kind of funny, they were one of my favorite bands the last time I went to Lolla back in 2009. I can’t wait to see them at Riot Fest next month.

The Reader has a short Lollapalooza recap that makes a few good points about the problems with this festival.

Crooked Fingers and John Vanderslice are coming to town in November. They play back-to-back nights on November 8th and 9th at Schubas. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

Last week NPR posted a pretty good video of Deer Tick’s John McCauley performing “Main Street” in front of some portable toilets.

My friend Audrey wrote up a review of Metric’s Synthetica, you can read it over at Pigeon Town.

Refused plays Chicago tonight, it should be a great time. Here’s a random video of them playing a small show in Ireland back in 1998:

The RAA is coming to town this fall. They play Schubas on October 29, 2012.

Ben Gibbard is coming out with a solo album in October, read about it over at AV Club.

Guided By Voices is coming to Metro on August 11, 2012.

Here’s a live acoustic version of “Unicorn Odyssey” by the Falcon:

I’ve been super busy with travel lately but I managed to settle down long enough to catch some bands at Green Music Fest. Dinosaur Jr. were great. I’m glad I finally got to see them.

I recently bought my tickets to Riot Fest. I’m just going on Saturday but I’m super excited about seeing Hot Water Music, Slapstick, Descendents, Gaslight Anthem, and Teenage Bottlerocket.

I’ve been listening to Hot Water Music all day and I stumbled upon this video of them playing an acoustic version of “Our Own Way”:

Also, I can’t get Jets to Brazil’s “Sweet Avenue” out of my head:
