The Hold Steady is playing Lincoln Hall tonight. To get you in the mood for the show, you should read COS’s interview with Craig Finn.

Tim Kasher is opening for the Hold Steady tonight. It’ll be interesting to see how the crowd reacts to him.

Autopsy IV of Ninebullets posted his 20 favorite albums of 2010.

Tankboy of Chicagoist has also posted his favorites of the year.

Christmas in Houston was enjoyable. I managed to get some good records for really cheap at Hot Topic. They were on clearance so I ended up paying $17 for two Alkaline Trio 7 inches, one Chuck Ragan 7 inch, a Dillinger Four LP, and Copyrights LP. My mother also gave me some records she got at the thrift store. The highlight of that bunch was Springsteen’s Born to Run for $1.79.

I’m going to two shows later this week: the Hold Steady and Tim Kasher on Thursday and Cursive on Friday. It should be a good way to end both the week and the year.

Greg Kot had a good post about the success of the Black Keys.

The Greenhornes have a new video that you can watch over at My Old Kentucky Blog.

Finally, in remembrance of Joe Strummer, here’s some Clash:

Posted: December 21, 2010 in Favorites

I used an asterisk because I am treating this more as a consolation prize for bands who had good songs but whose albums I didn’t enjoy as a whole or I just didn’t listen to enough. I didn’t include bands I mentioned in my list of favorite albums because that would get really redundant.
