This news just made my day. The Morning Benders show scheduled for April 12th at Schubas has now been moved to Lincoln Hall. Of course, this means the previously sold out show now has tickets available. I learned my lesson and subsequently bought my ticket immediately.

The Thermals have a new track called “Separate.”  It’s catchy and I like it. It’s nothing mind-blowing but it’s definitely worth a listen.

Hear Ya has their list of recommended shows in Chicago for this month. I guess I shouldn’t have waited on the Morning Benders show. It’s sold out.

You can listen to a stream of Nothing Hurts by Male Bonding here.

Captains Dead has the Sleater-Kinney BBC Sessions. It has me feeling nostalgic for the days when I’d listen to KTRU and they played “I Wanna Be Your Joey Ramone” all the time.

And finally, She & Him played Letterman:

Like every month there are a bunch of shows I want to go. I tried to limit myself this month but it was hard:

  • April 8, 2010 – Deer Tick, Those Darlins @ Bottom Lounge
  • April 9, 2010 – Japandroids @ Lincoln Hall
  • April 12, 2010 – The Morning Benders @ Schubas
  • April 17, 2010 – Rogue Wave @ Lincoln Hall
  • April 22, 2010 – The Antlers @ Lincoln Hall
  • April 25, 2010 – White Rabbits, Here We Go Magic @ Metro

April 8, 2010 – Deer Tick, Those Darlins @ Bottom Lounge

I’ve seen Deer Tick once before. They played with Dawes at Empty Bottle last year. I really enjoyed that show despite not knowing much of their catalog. Since then, I’ve become a big fan so I’d like to see them now that I am more familiar with their songs. I’ve never seen Those Darlins but I’ve been wanting to see them for a while now; sadly I did not see them at SXSW. Moreover, I’ll probably end up going to this show because Bottom Lounge is just a few blocks from my apartment. That place rarely seems to get good shows now but when they do happen, I have to take advantage.

April 9, 2010 – Japandroids @ Lincoln Hall

An awesome band playing one of my favorite venues in the city. I saw Japandroids at SXSW and was really impressed. Those guys have tons of energy. I can’t even imagine how awesome this show will be. Japandroids on a Friday night, it’s going to be intense.

April 12, 2010 – The Morning Benders @ Schubas

Saw maybe two songs of these guys at SXSW. I have barely heard any of their music but everyone says they are awesome. Not sure if I’ll actually make it to this one but it could be fun.

April 17, 2010 – Rogue Wave @ Lincoln Hall

I listened to these guys a lot in anticipation of SXSW and I actually saw them at Red Eyed Fly. I was a little too far back to really enjoy that show so I’d like to see them again.

April 22, 2010 – The Antlers @ Lincoln Hall

Mike told me about these guys. I have listened to their album a few times. There are two songs on there that I really like. When it comes to shows at Lincoln Hall, that’s all it takes to get me to go.

April 25, 2010 – White Rabbits, Here We Go Magic @ Metro

Never seen White Rabbits before but I really like their latest CD, It’s Frightening. I have no idea how they’ll be live. I don’t think I’ve heard anything by Here We Go Magic. Michelle likes them so they can’t be that bad, right?

Lollapalooza is playing hangman with it’s lineup teaser this year. There is a pretty good guess as to what the actual lineup is here. I’d really like to see Phoenix and Arcade Fire but I am still undecided on whether I’ll go or not. I have mixed feelings from my experience last year but maybe I should give the fest a second chance. Last year, the Beastie Boys had to cancel and the weather was horrible on the first day. Things have to go better this year, right?

I didn’t get to see them at SXSW but maybe I’ll see them at the Vic, Broken Bells are going on tour with the Morning Benders.

AV Club has Alkaline Trio covering Archers of Loaf and it’s awesome.

Stereogum has some items for download, including one of the Tegan & Sara “Alligator” remixes and the Das Racist mixtape.

And finally, here’s a video of Joe Pug at the Guest Apartment.
