Shows in September 2011

Posted: September 6, 2011 in Shows This Month

Summer’s over but the outdoor shows are still going on, especially at the Hideout.

  • September 9, 2011 – Brendan Kelly, Ratasucia @ Double Door
  • September 10, 2011 – Hum, The Thermals, Maritime @ AV Club Fest (The Hideout)
  • September 11, 2011 – Archers of Loaf, Tokyo Police Club, Maps & Atlases, Telekinesis @ AV Club Fest (The Hideout)
  • September 24, 2011 – Andrew Bird @ Hideout Block Party

September 9, 2011 – Brendan Kelly, Ratasucia @ Double Door

So Brendan Kelly does the acoustic guitar thing on occasion. These shows are pretty fun. It’s like a Lawrence Arms show but without all the shoving. Ratasucia is Dan Hanaway’s new band, they were good at AMR15. Their sound is punker than his most recent bands.

September 10, 2011 – Hum, The Thermals, Maritime @ AV Club Fest (The Hideout)

This is the first year of AV Club Fest and they are starting it off right. The first day features some festival favorites. Hum played Millennium Park last year. The Thermals did the same and they already played Green Music Fest this. I’m sure Maritime has played some street fest already this year but I haven’t seen them since they played BAM! back in 2008. This one is sure to be a blast.

September 11, 2011 – Archers of Loaf, Tokyo Police Club, Maps & Atlases, Telekinesis @ AV Club Fest (The Hideout)

This is day 2 of the AV Club Fest. I never saw Archers of Loaf in their heyday and I missed them last time they were in town, so I’m glad that I get to see them before the inevitable breakup. I’ve never seen Tokyo Police Club but I like their records. I’ve seen both Maps & Atlases and Telekinesis before and they are pretty good live.

September 24, 2011 – Andrew Bird @ Hideout Block Party

There are a ton of other bands playing this one but I’m only there for Andrew Bird. I’ve only seen him in a church before so this will be a nice change of pace.
