Shows in August 2011

Posted: August 2, 2011 in Shows This Month

I’m trying to scale back the amount of shows I go to this month, thankfully those shows include some of my favorite bands.

  • August 18, 2011 – Tim Kasher @ Schubas
  • August 25, 2011 – The Hold Steady @ Metro
  • August 27, 2011 – Braid @ Metro

August 18, 2011 – Tim Kasher @ Schubas

Tim Kasher plays his first Chicago show of 2011. It’s been a while but at least he’s bring some new music. He recently released some new songs that were recorded during the Monogamy sessions.

August 25, 2011 – The Hold Steady @ Metro

It’s been more than six months since I’ve seen the Hold Steady. In fact, the last time I saw them was in December, when Tim Kasher opened. This will be my first time seeing them at Metro and it should be a good one. Their shows are always full of sing-a-longs and raucous crowds, which Metro is perfect for. Be sure to heckle Craig about how the Sox are doing better than the Twins this year.

August 27, 2011 – Braid @ Metro

It’s been over 13 years since the last time I saw Braid. It seems that reunion shows are all the rage these days, but this one should be worth it. Braid was a band who pretty much went out on top. Their last album (Frame & Canvas) was their best album and their fans liked them until the end. It’ll be great to see them live again. I don’t think they’ll be playing any more Chicago shows after this one, so buy a ticket if you have the opportunity.
