Archive for July, 2010

Friday night was Ha Ha Tonka and Langhorne Slim. Ha Ha Tonka put on a great show. This was my second time to see them and I enjoyed them a lot more this time. Langhorne Slim was good but I just wasn’t expecting so much rock. I always think of his music as laid back. It was surprising how different the live show was.

Earlier today I was watching Arcade Fires’s performance on Austin City Limits. I always get inspired when I watch it. I am still undecided as to whether I will go to Lollapalooza just to see them.

This is kind of old news but apparently Tim Kasher is putting out a solo album. I also just found out he is playing a show this Tuesday in Chicago. I just bought my ticket. This should be interesting. Consequence of Sound has a write up on the album.

The Mad Decent Block Party, featuring Diplo and Kid Sister, hits Chicago on August 21, 2010 at the Hideout.

It’s been a while but I am going back to Lincoln Hall tonight to see Langhorne Slim and Ha Ha Tonka.

I was told that now that I have a record player again, I should by favorite albums on vinyl. I am thinking the next one will be Spoon’s “Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga.”

Speaking of Spoon, So Much Silence has a link to a demo version of Spoon’s “Something To Look Forward To.”

According to Pitchfork, Jonsi is playing Chicago on November 3, 2010.

I got the new Sundowner album in the mail yesterday. I have already listened to it six times. We Chase The Waves is great, give it a listen if you have the chance. I cannot wait to see Sundowner next month.

Frightened Rabbit is going on tour, too bad they are wasting their Chicago appearance at Lollapalooza.

Well I missed them at Pitchfork but I finally got around to watching this Sleigh Bells interview off of Amplified:

Of course, Pitchfork has a ton of stuff on Pitchfork Festival.

I am debating whether I should go see Netherfriends @ Empty Bottle on Sunday. They were so good at Pitchfork but I don’t know if I want to start next week with a lack of sleep.

Robyn was on Letterman the other night:
